Happiness

{An excerpt from
The Road to Happiness
by Mac Anderson and BJ Gallagher

When I travel on business, I like to talk to the taxi drivers who take me from the airport to my hotel, or to a convention center, or to a restaurant. Taxi drivers are often immigrants with interesting personal histories and unusual cultural backgrounds. I ask them how long they’ve been in America, how they chose which city to live in, and what they like best about where they live. Of course, I also ask them for advice on good local restaurants and any special attractions they’d recommend to a visitor. I’ve had some great experiences on my travels, thanks to the advice of taxi drivers!

On one trip about ten years ago, I was making conversation with the taxi driver, asking him my usual questions about how he came to live where he lived. Then I asked him a hypothetical question: “If you could live anywhere in the world-and if money was no object-where would you live?”

Without hesitating even for a second, he replied, “I live in my heart. So it really doesn’t matter where my body lives. If I am happy inside, then I live in paradise, no matter where my residence is.”

I felt humbled and a little foolish for my question. Of course he was right-happiness is an inside job. He had reminded me of something I already knew, but had forgotten. If you can’t find happiness inside yourself, you’ll never find it in the outside world, no matter where you move. Wherever you go, there you are. You take yourself with you.

I am grateful for the wisdom of that taxi driver. And I’m grateful for all the wisdom others have shared with me about how to be happy.}

Wishing you a fabulous day ~ “Make it So ”

2011 !

Alas, my blog has ‘gone by the wayside’ for a while.  I will have to figure out something to motivate me , no ?  I did get this email today (one of those automated email list emails, but it is one that I like and often has really good stuff as was the case today.  So, I am reprinting it for my belated blog.

{ “What do all of the following statements have in common?

*Ever notice as soon as you get in the Express Line at the grocery
store the line slows down?

*When I was growing up my mother was very distant and since then I
have had a hard time relating to women.

*Just when I was getting ahead my ex-wife’s lawyer came after me for
the unpaid child support.

*I’d like to have more money, but I have so many financial problems I
will never get out of debt.

*I enjoy personal growth, but my husband thinks all that stuff is
nonsense and doesn’t like me to participate in it.

*I’d like to open a business of my own, but my wife thinks it is too
risky, so I guess I had better stay at this secure and boring job I
dislike going to every day.

What all these statements have in common is the nature of the
person making the statement. As diverse as all of these statements
are and as diverse as the people who make them appear to be, each
statement reflects the same type of individual – a person with low
self-worth and a predisposition toward negative expectations.

The biggest common denominator all these people share is that they
are desperately holding onto being a victim. They live at the
Victim Level of Awareness. They almost celebrate the fact that they
are victimized. Their “stories” are always about their past and
the latest problems and tragedies that have befallen them. Of
course they are not really victims, but volunteers. They have made a
choice – usually unconscious- to remain a victim.

You can’t be a victim and be a success in life. You can be one or
the other, but not both at the same time. If you want to feel like
a victim and that’s what you affirm to the people around
you, you will continue to create a self-fulfilling prophecy. You
will repel love, defer happiness, attract illness or injuries and
sabotage any financial or business success. The problem is you tell
your story so well to everyone around you that you end up following
your own script.

The good news is REMAINING a victim is a choice.  If the above
describes you then ask yourself this question. “Is remaining a
victim moving me TOWARDS or AWAY from what I want?” If it is moving
you away, then you are paying a very high price to hold onto your
victimhood.  Now is the time to release it and move up to a higher
Level of Awareness.

Today will bring you a new awareness, a lesson or a manifestation
that you are making progress – IF YOU LOOK FOR IT!  No matter how
large or small, please record it in your Evidence Journal. It will
only take a few moments and will AUTOMATICALLY put you in the Flow.

Truly Caring for Your Success!

Native American Heritage Month

Last November there was a thread started on the Etsy promo section. A lovely lady who’s known as Jstinson there posted this:

“President Obama has declared November to be National Native American Month and November 29 to be National Native American Day.”

Sirocco was the first person that she promoted. He does wonderful work with beads and Turquoise. The next person she promoted to bump the thread was herself and her gorgeous beadwork. It rather snowballed from there.

Joni had expected just to have a month where the Native Americans on Etsy, and there’s a BUNCH of em to let you know, could promote their items. I came in about page 400 of the first thread…and now , a year later, we’re already into our SEVENTH thread.

http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=6665711&page=1

Not everyone on the thread is of Native blood but everyone is welcome and all have something(s) in their shops that are NA inspired, with respect and appreciation of NA culture.

We show off/promote our own goodies,  the beautiful work of other Etsy artists and have lots of laughs and fun just chatting. We have a core group of a dozen or so that bring ‘virtual’ kawi (Cherokee for coffee) and eats to our virtual campfire. We have a story time at 8PM-ish Indian Standard Time on Wednesday nights and a Roast of one of our friends every last Thursday of the month.

Beginning Nov. 1st there will be a  big event featuring many of the shops of folks who frequent the NA promo thread.   There will be many sales going on within each shop and a series of ‘Treasure Hunts” will run throughout the whole month of November.  There are more than 20+ maybe 30 !? prizes to be given out to winners of the treasure hunts !!!  These are incredible, valuable prizes (donated by each participating shop) and since there are so many with only 3 hunts to be run during the month, you will have a really good chance to win something.   The hunts promise to be fun , each one will feature just a few shops so you won’t have to spend an excessive amount of time searching for clues.

GO TO  Etsy.com and search napromo to find the sale items.    Yeeks I don’t know yet what to tell you to look for for the treasure hunt treasuries ( though that would be a good start~’treasure hunt’ under treasuries, na treasure hunt….)  I will know tomorrow a.m. and post that info here and on FB.  Below is a list of artist/shops participating.   Hope you will go and have a look at these shops, they are wonderful artists !

Made my day !

This is just the best , received this email today !!

Hi Jan,

I don’t know if you remember me, but I’ve bought several of your magnets over the years. I’m the one who, at the Spring Fair in Roseburg (either 2010 or 2009), told you how my husband’s and my severely downturned finances—due to the economy’s hard hit on our small mom-and-pop business—had taken an almost magical upturn since I put your Abundance dollar sign magnet on our fridge.

Since then, I’ve put Something wonderful is about to happen in another prominent place, and even more wonderful things have been happening! I really believe that the positive attitude engendered by these magnets has played a large part in manifesting such blessings in our lives. And the more good things that happen, the more we believe they can, and the more we believe, they more they happen. (We really do need to be careful what we wish for, because so much is coming true!)

So I just wanted to thank you for helping our dreams materialize. Our life is so much better now in so many ways, and I often think of you and your amazing magnets whenever the next wonder appears out of nowhere.

I love that your magnets demonstrate the power of attraction both physically and metaphysically. I hope they bring you an abundance of blessings!

Peace and hugs,
Diana
