No more outdoor shows

Last outdoor show for me today, we were in a tent but only enclosed 3 sides, was slightly windy and pretty cold tho a very beautiful day.  Small turnout and i had the “big 0″ day- oh well, it happens, I’m pretty convinced now that Medford and points north of the Rogue Valley are not my market area- good to know and remember , yes?    This week decorate and set up at the old Ashland armory, Yumm Yumm eat ‘em up on thurs. fri. ,sat. ,sun. sell sell sell !, break down and clean up armory, finish up magnetic sign order, work on more inventory,  relax, feel good have Fun !!!

Missed Sunday nite post so sorry.

I’ve just been on overload and couldn’t force myself to get on the computer after a long day at ‘market’.  Last weekend was the beginning of the holiday markets and they will continue from now till the weekend b4 xmas.  Then i may get a little break and some time to catch up on day to day chores that are piling up !  Not complaining at all, I continue to be extremely grateful to have the work and it seems to be continuing !   Still can’t get on facebook because I don’t know how to get the application that I need but that has also been put on hold for however long.  I will do it when the opportunity comes ’round, will probably have to hire my computer guy and get a few things taken care of.  Again, mind is not fully in gear so I will cut this short this time too.   i know that must be so very disappointing since I am such an inspiring writer.  Hope my artwork/signs can make up for that as that Is my way of “articulating”.   Thanks to anyone out there paying attention !

knockin’ ‘em dead !

Yes, I’ve had as many as 8 views per day !  Pretty funny yes ?  I wonder if and how I can be more interesting ?   I know I can entertain myself but have yet to feel I can interest or entertain anyone else.   I do wonder who you 8 folks are !?    Not much news again ,I am just painting and painting and painting some more.  Holiday shows coming up fast and I am working on sign orders and inventory with the occasional break for food, reading, errands , taking care of my very old kitty .   It’s just a good thing that I do entertain myself eh ?   I’m also hoping the pictures and quotes will be of some interest.    Especially since I am blanking out right now.  I was wanting to write something about being (?) an artist / definition of an artist/ am I an artist/ who is an artist.  I must do some more searching and thinking about that because I don’t know an answer or definition or…?   OK , first stop …the dictionary …. Artist : [craftsman, artisan] 1. A person who works in or is skilled in any of the fine arts, esp. in painting,drawing sculpture, etc.   2. a person who does anything very well, with imagination and a feeling for form , effect, etc.    Yes, I Am an artist and artisan, in fact, I have always believed that everyone is an artist in some way as this definition has reminded me.!

Sunday night again

A glass of wine caps a long day of painting signs and working on home ‘repair’. I am delighted to have a big job creating 11 sets of vehicle magnetics for a local business, Yea.! And to have gotten a good start on ripping out some ‘bad’ carpet ( I will spare you the ugly details) and getting that repair work stared. It’s been a good week. Got a new set of Abraham cd’s and am well into my 2nd listen. That’s it in a nutshell and I will sign off with a story king of quote this time. I came across it while reading today, have seen it before and I think it is really excellent.

quikpress it is since the other ain’t co-operatin

This will be interesting to see what comes out ! On my screen/quickpress box instead of a picture is all the – I guess – html jargon. I will try to edit in progress better since I seem unable to do it after it is published. Ya learn and ya learn some more. (hope so anyway) I think I will end up having to get some help with this and see why safari keeps closing on me when I try editing. And, I can’t figure out how to scroll back on this little box to edit back past 3 lines ! Ye Gads. A busy week it’s been and got lots of projects done, now on to the next. I have a set of business magnets to do as prototype, if they please the buyer I will be making many more ! O Boy.! Also have a business card design and color copy to finish. I do it all by hand using pen and ink, sharpies, colored pencils and sometimes water colors. I know, I’m the not so proverbial dinosaur but it’s the way I like to work so that’s my story and I’m stickin to it.
On a non-business related ‘note’ I got a load of firewood delivered today (I think today, I didn’t know until after it was done) the young man delivered And stacked it which was very cool , he stacked the last pickup load as well, but this time- the majority of the load was too long !!! Eeka-Beeka ! I had to unstack it and will need to get my neighbor to come over and cut it up for me. I am ‘proud’ of myself though for taking it in stride and not having a hissy over it. I am grateful for the wood and the stacking. Thank You N.K. and L.C. I did get a very good deal on it after all .

freakin’ me out

trying to do this week in blog but the safari application keeps suddenly quitting. I have been going to pots and clik’g add new and I barely get started before safari craps out. ??!! so I have gone to quickpress and so far so good. What up with that ?
Well, it does give me something to blog about now doesn’t it.
I continue to be very busy/lots of work. Thank You Goddess.
Market is getting slow, not many people about, but I am holding steady, a few sales, a few orders. Loooking forward to the end of the season/begin of the next one ! i won’t be having so many (read..all) weekends taken by shows. It will still be most but the odd weekend off is O so Nice. I’m off to sweetdreamland early and plan an early, focused, fun, creative,timely week in the shopio. Manhy blessings and Joy …….*) Jan

It’s Octubre

It seems that winter is here also. Got rained out at the Artisans Market today ( sunday) but it was nice to have a day off and I made it a real day off , don’t do That often , it was very nice.  Saturday was slow, it was mostly sunny but cold and not so many people out and about.  But I made a couple dollars, two  custom orders were picked up and talked to some nice folks so it was a successful day.  

So, this coming week or 3 I must get to work on a couple sign orders and a couple custom orders from the market and also hope to get some work done on “inventory” for the holiday fairs. Looks to be a busy month and must get myself organized and focused.

  A “compadre”and were talking at the market this saturday  and he was saying that he’s never worked harder than when self employed.  I would have to agree with that but…. the benefits of setting your own hours and being your own boss and working at home are more important to me besides the feeling that , at least when I am painting, it’s not “work”.  He also thinks that all us “artisans and artists” , at least those of us at Lithia Artisans Market are some kind of krazy.  We certainly are a group of individualists and characters !

It’s Mon. AM, back from “camp”-womens retreat.  It was seemingly “up in the air” whether or not we could continue with the gatherings, financial issues and desire.  As it turned out there were 12 of us that showed up and paid full price and worked in one way or other to set things up and discuss the future of WSC.  We 12 ( and I know there are at least a few more who weren’t able to make it this time due to lack of funds and other commitments) in varying degrees, Absolutely are intent on keeping the gathering going * at camp M *with some ritual * meals provided* candles….much the same as it has been but we will need to continue to require everyone to pay full price.  If some really want to come but simply cannot pay we will do our best to find a way to make it work. At least for the time being….workshops are welcome but presenters will not be given 1/2 price rate ( this can possibly be negotiated if needed)  schedule will be open and loosely planned on site. Again, for the time being we will not have schedule packets and workshop time assignments.   We continue to be open to all ideas and especially to anyone who wishes to take the initiative to implement them ( rituals, ceremonies, workshops,handouts etc.)

We 12 had a mach-fabulous weekend, the extra small group was very intimate and fun, we all fit at one table for meals, had some more personal connections or at least felt , I think ,that we all had more contact with each other and  everyone was more relaxed and open with each other, of course we have all known each other or a lot of years now.  Lots and lots of laughing and it wouldn’t be retreat without some tears too!  It was also extra relaxing not having the big (or any) schedule, workshops, really the only thing we had set times for were meals.  That will stay for now but ya never know how and when it might morph. 

Looking forward to spring gathering with a happy heart, warm feelings of incredible friendships and connections with my Sisters! April 23,24,25, 2010  Yippee! I, personally, enjoy both the small and larger gatherings and will be happy with either, there are many faces that we all missed and hope to see again soon and often . We like new friends too!!      

p.s. Thank You sisters YET AGAIN for your mach-awesome support of my heartwork !!!! Sales were spectacular for a group of 12 Ye all rock !!!   (WAS THAT YOU?!)
